Barking Turtles

I miss the August of 2008. All those :]'s and "haha"s and "if you're lucky"s. Where is all that now?! (Only you can tell me, and you know who you are!)

I was supposed to actually write in my journal today, after almost a year and a half of hiatus. But that didn't happen. I ended up reading, and now I'm here, at 12:19 a.m. I'm sleepy. The first sentence was all that I wanted to say, really. Now that that's done, I shall go to bed.

More tomorrow. Thank you, furlough day.

Today

I was happy today. Until about 4:40 P.M. when I finally gathered the courage to check my email and faced disappointment. I wasn't selected to be a Questbridge finalist. I cried for a few minutes, but you know what? I'm okay. Questbridge was simply an opportunity I chose to take and to work hard to qualify for, but not becoming a finalist is not the end of the world. It's just the end of the program for me. It's okay, because everything comes to an end, and it's not necessarily always a happy ending. You just cannot expect that all the time. So here I continue with my Common Application for regular decision, and here I continue to work hard to achieve my goals. I will get into at least one of the schools that I ranked, and I will be happy regardless of rejection notices, because in the end, everything works out just fine. Decision Making

Why is decision making so difficult, anyway? Goodness. It is currently a quarter to four in the afternoon, and I just thought that I would take a couple of minutes (and then some, as we all probably already know) to do this because as I was eating yogurt (blueberry, yum) a few minutes ago, it occurred to me how much time has passed since I last did this. About a week plus a few days. If you care to know. Seriously, though, life is hard. I mean, the concept and principle of it is deceivingly simple. But the seemingly, deceivingly "little things" in it... Gosh. What a rip-off. I would like to file a complaint to the deities up or down wherever they may reside (or not). And here I thought that I wasn't going to have much homework today because I had been working on chemistry and only chemistry the entire day yesterday. No joke. Yes, it surprised me, too.
