My Spring Break, One Week Late

Image
Remember in elementary school, when every time we returned from vacation or break, our teachers would ask us to write a paragraph or essay about our time off, indicating what we did and all that good stuff? Well, here's mine! Excuse the tardiness, please. (Google images) Friday : Dim sum, "Rango", and Half and Half with P and K.L. Wonderful girls' morning/ afternoon out; Din Tai Fung with N for dinner--ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, worth every minute of wait. Saturday : Last-minute decision to attend Clippers-Cavs game, thanks to Craigslist and a dude who couldn't go because of work. Beautiful seats, close game, wonderful time. Accompanied by pre-game Porto's breakfast and one last trip to Glendale Borders even though I didn't need anything... (Google images) Monday : Lunch with N, start of "The Last Song" on Netflix, Costco with mother dearest. Tuesday : Doctor's appointment at CHLA,; dim sum with N; 24-hour Fitness, where I benched for the second t...

Crazy, Crazy Me

I must be crazy. It's nearly 2:30 a.m. and I am still awake just to blog. I didn't fall asleep until almost 3:30 last night, either... About half an hour ago, I finished my final English paper, and began to just listen to music (I had been listening to rap while writing, so I decided to change genres when I was done). Both of my roommates have been asleep for a while now. I'm awake because, well, I chose to do my paper so late at night when I could have done it at any time during the day. But I have somehow convinced myself that I write best/ most effectively late at night, so I spent my day reading and creating a written study guide for the objective portion of my English final on Tuesday. I really need to start studying chem, too... But tomorrow will be a continuation of English objective material. In addition to a however-long review session for linguistics... Oh, gosh. Do I really not care about chem anymore?! I think so. Regardless, I WILL study for it. Study study stu...

Impending Doom

So, it's nearing the very end of week 10. In other words, I ought to be studying my brain out right now--or filling it to the brim with information I'll forget immediately after finals--but here I am, because I feel full from the butter croissant I just ate and because I feel like I need a break after a mere hour of studying. I suck, I know. I just feel that in the midst of this constant studying (on other people's parts, of course), I should enjoy my time FOR them. Just kidding. It's all for myself because I'm an idiot who doesn't know how to effectively study and therefore just ignores the concept entirely, thinking that finals won't be that bad, only to end up with a mediocre grade because I neglected the importance of studies and the purpose of my presence here at UCLA. Just slightly kidding there. Although, no joke about the studying (or lack thereof, really) part. The vanilla latte today isn't that good. I think I'll go back to caramel. Oh, let...

To all the haters out there...

If you had it like me and I was in your shoes, I'd probably hate on me too ... Yeah, today's gon' be a good day, I'm feeling like I'm ice cube I'm waking up, can't nobody mess up my mood Knowing I'm a boss, I'm gonna do what I choose If I was you, then I would probably hate on me too If'it's true that time is money, then watch this I ain't tryin' to run outta time, so I purchased some watches... This song has been stuck in my head for two days now! It's so catchy and funny. The way I interpret (and sing) it, anyway... I hope you enjoy it! On a related note, LUPE FIASCO'S new album is pretty great. GIVE IT A TRY.

Erasers Are Evil

Actually, I am not yet in bed, but I will soon be, after I blog while eating a Nature Valley granola bar and taking vitamins, blow dry my just-washed hair, brush my teeth, take off my contact lenses, and all that good stuff. So, maybe "soon" denotes about an hour from now. Everybody at home is still sick. Needless to say, I don't like it. One person got sick, spread it to another, and spread it to another, then spread it to me. I think I got well. Then I return to find out that the nobody is well yet because the germs just keep circulating! I feel so bad avoiding even my mother because she has been coughing so incessantly, but I can't help it... I just HAVE to turn away from sick germs, whether or not I myself am sick. How do I do this in my own home? Basically, I try to stay out as long as possible. Otherwise, I stay in my room until I really have to go downstairs to get something (most likely water) or to eat (just meals). Sad? Paranoid? I know. In any case, I have ...

Sniffle, Sniffle

The past two or three days for me has been a miserably endless cycle of sneezing to the point of tearing up, blowing my nose until it's dry and red, drinking so much water that I go to the bathroom every hour, taking random pills (Benadryl, Sudafed, Tylenol) in hopes that one will fix me, and sleeping in until lunchtime or until my morning lecture has well begun. In short, I got sick. Despite all my (paranoid) precautions--wiping my desk and keyboard with Lysol disinfectant wipes, not inhaling for the few seconds after somebody nearby coughs, drinking lots of water, taking vitamins--my immune system has, to my physical and mental demise, buckled down to the wraths of the common cold. How did this happen? I went home last weekend. That's all I will say. I took two Benadryl pills about half an hour ago and I think I got high from it or something, because a short while later, I started laughing at the fact that I had exceeded the maximum number of toppings for the pizza I was goin...

Four Minutes

Tonight, I went to ROCK, where I was frequently asked, "How's school?" Every time, I replied with a variant of "It's okay," because it really is just that. Not great, not terrible, but just plain okay. I've actually had to study and do homework immensely more now than last quarter, which was what I was hoping for when I signed up for these classes. But when I started reading Chaucer last night, I was completely baffled. It was like reading another language. It took me twenty minutes to read fifteen lines because I had to look up the definitions of about two or three words in each line. It was so frustrating that I just resorted to Sparknotes (which I now recall is so high school) so I could go to bed already. In any case, I hope that gets better and that despite the many things that I left at school for the weekend but need here at home (e.g. the Oxford English Dictionary), I can still read and gain understanding of this present nonsense. I think I have ...
